Monday - Soap Box

Good Morning and I Truly mean that!

Although my morning began early with 2 little chatter bugs talking at 5:30am and ready to start the day despite me trying to coax them into my bed to snuggle a bit more. No worries, my husband was up getting ready for work and my alarm was soon to go off to meet a friend to workout. Yes I'd say a good morning as the sun rises and the coffee drips I baked fresh flax seed banana muffins for the kids (and myself, because the only time I'll eat an egg is if it's in a muffin) and then I sit down to read my devotions; I'm reading Knowing God, I didn't get it all read on the cruise but I'm not in a race to quickly know Him, my mission is to have a relationship with Him. Then I'm off to answer emails and messages regarding anything from workouts, recipes, advice on one thing or another or simply sign up for a 5K.  It's a good morning!

You are probably saying "shut-up" but this is my reality, yes! I'm blessed to be able to do all of this because I'm just a "stay at home mom" oh lucky me...I warned you I was on a soap box today right?

This is it me Standing here (well sitting actually) saying I know to count my blessings and I also know that I work hard to keep everyday a "good morning" everyone is so quick to use one excuse or another for why they "can't" do something let me ask you, how many times have you said to your child "can't" is not a word we use just try again. So I'm telling you to try again, stop using excuses as your get out of jail free card they don't work in any game but Monopoly. It's time to pay the price of your biggest excuse and own up to the the results of your actions. I'm guilty of excuses everyday, we all are because we are human, we choose what is important to us and we set out thoughts on that one thing. I'm asking you today to stop the excuses and stop putting the "you can do it because...you're just a stay at home mom that "likes" to cook, clean, teach, taxi, feed, exercise, study, and etc. Actually, I really enjoy sitting in a coffee shop reading all day, but that doesn't help me reach my potential as a wife, mother and women of God.

Step out of yourself and see what's holding you back to be the best you can be. I challenge you to write your excuses down and cross them off each time you hurdle over them or replace them with the results of  "NOT" to get something done.

example: I didn't prepare food this week - you end up eating out or picking up take out = just increased your unhealthy habits and decreased the money in your pocket.
example: I didn't wash the clothes yet...you now are sending your children to school in dirty clothes, the smelly kids.
example: I can't workout because I already took a shower...guess what there are no rules as to how many shower you can take in a day and if you say this too often you'll believe it and that workout will never get done shower or no shower.
example: I hear most often from moms: "I feel guilty to take the time for myself when I could be playing with my kids" guess what moms you are not always playing with your kids I know I don't guess where we choose to spend our extra 30 min (and lots more) on Social media - STOP this excuse you are worth it and your children need to see you care about yourself as much as them don't use them as an excuse they didn't ask for it or deserve it.
example: touchy subject "honey I'm too tired" I've been busy all day with the kids and all (you might even go to the extreme of sleeping in your kids rooms) guess what this excuse will cost you your marriage. Now are you worth it? is your spouse worth it? are your children worth it? think about it before you just give an excuse or say something that would hurt your future self.

JoyForFitness -jumping off her soap box because I'm more than just a "stay at home mom" - I'm a child of God living for the Kingdom He has promised His children and teaching my children the same.

Have a Great Morning and an even better week!

Invest your time in God's word

There are so many books, articles, movies and programs on God and religion etc. But I've learned from reading those that they are from someone else's experiences and relationship with Him. I want my own story to write and that is why I have taken on along with my family reading the bible in a year. So many times we rely on what someone tells us the bible says when really all the interpretation and explanation is there for us to research and explore ourselves, yes it might take time, even a whole life time, but I have that to give and I have so much to gain from investing my time into knowing my creator and savior.

One thing I've learned this week is so often I come to Him with hesitation, where I need to come boldly with respect, but boldly come to trust Him and only through Him will I boast.

I'm learning that when I focus on Him and understanding His word more everything else will fall into place, not perfectly and definitely not as I planned, but as He has planned and I will continue to trust Him as I get to Know Him more. Pray-fully praying for His hand to guide me each step of the way.

Have you gotten to know your savior and creator? He's amazing I highly recommend the Bible I'd start in the book Romans or John and read about this amazing man that is worth the investment.
